Chelsea signed Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille eight years ago and the versatile defender has always been available for his respective managers.

Frank Lampard left Chelsea at the end of the 2013/14 season. He is now back at the Stamford Bridge, managing proceedings from the dugout.

One of his trusted lieutenants on the pitch has been Cesar Azpilicueta. The Chelsea captain has been a consistent presence for the Blues.

Azpilicueta made 49 appearances in all competition in Lampard’s first season in West London. Moreover, to his credit, he only missed two Premier League games.

The Spaniard has made 40 or more appearances for Chelsea in all of his eight years at the club. With the season coming to a close, Azpilicueta reflected on their achievements.

With respect to his presence in the first-team squad, Azpilicueta is pleased with his achievement. He shared his personal ambition of always being available for the manager and give his best for the club.

“When I arrived at Chelsea, I couldn’t imagine the amount of games that I would play,” the Chelsea FC Instagram post read.

“I just always try to be available for the manager, to train hard and to play hard whenever I have the chance so to reach this amount of games is amazing and it’s something I’m really proud of.”
