Cesar Azpilicueta believes Eden Hazard will recover from a poor debut season and go on to be a success at Real Madrid.

Despite a poor showing at the Bernabeu last term, Azpilicueta has backed his former teammate Eden Hazard to shine in La Liga.

The Belgian signed for Real Madrid in a €100m deal last summer. The 29-year-old was brought in as a Galactico signing but has failed to deliver on that promise.

Hazard was a joy to watch on the pitch during his time at Chelsea but the same cannot be said of him in a Madrid jersey.

Injuries have not helped his situation any better.

Since making his debut for Los Blancos, Hazard has only managed a single goal in 22 total appearances for the club.

Despite a poor start to his career in Spain, Azpilicueta expects his former teammate to come good soon enough.

“This season has been hampered by injuries and he hasn’t been at 100 percent,” Azpilicueta told Marca.

“I hope he can pick up some rhythm in order to help his team.

“I have no doubt that Real Madrid have lots of quality players and that Eden can show his worth in that team.

“Let’s hope we can see the Hazard we saw at Chelsea.”
