Just days before AFCON, Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tested positive for Covid-19 upon reaching Cameroon.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tested positive for Covid-19 just after his arrival in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Gunners skipper was spotted with national teammate Mario Lemina in Dubai before their flight to Cameroon.

Lemina has also contracted the virus and the pair will have to self-isolate ahead of their opener at AFCON on Monday against Comoros.

Aubameyang has suffered from a rough patch last month following his feud with Mikel Arteta over disciplinary protocols. Since Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Everton, the Gabon ace has not featured for his club.

However, Arteta’s side have not shown signs of stopping with four wins in five games in the Premier League. Moreover, they also qualified for the semi-final of the EFL Cup.

According to reports, Aubameyang and Lemina were both seen at a party in Dubai while on training duty.

Now, the pair stays in extreme doubt for Gabon’s first game of AFCON, which will take place on Monday. Later, Aubameyang will face his Arsenal teammate Thomas Partey as his side takes on Ghana next Friday.
