The Gabonese striker scored the second goal of the game to help Barcelona complete a 2-1 comeback win over Galatasaray.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has credited Pedri’s superb equalizer as the key to Barcelona’s 2-1 victory against Galatasaray on Thursday.

With the Europa League last-16 tie poised at 0-0 after the first leg, Marcao scored first for Galatasaray in the return leg. Pedri and Aubameyang’s goals, however, helped Barcelona recover. The Catalan side won 2-1 in Turkey and, therefore, progressed into the quarter-finals.

They’ll discover their quarter-final opponents in the Europa League during Friday afternoon’s draw.

Pedri’s ‘golazo’ key to comeback win

Speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Aubameyang paid tribute to Pedri’s majestic equalizing goal and remarked on how it helped the squad mentality.

“It’s good. It means we have the right mentality,” he said about the comeback victory.

“Pedri’s goal was great for us mentally ahead of the second half. [It] was a golazo. It’s incredible he can’t remember it! Of course, [Lionel] Messi could have scored it.”

On his form, Aubameyang, who has now scored seven goals for Barca since his free transfer from Arsenal in January, added: “I am working a lot and the important thing is I am happy.

“When you are, you’re hungry to score goals and help the team however you can.

“We have to keep going like this. We can get to the final and win it, but we’re just thinking of ourselves and how we should play. When we play with intensity, it gives us a big chance of winning games, like in the second half.”

What next for Barcelona?

Up next is a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu as Barcelona face Real Madrid on Sunday for another Clasico in La Liga.

At the time of writing, a win for Xavi’s men is priced at 3.25 on Bet365. This suggests they have a 30% chance of taking all three points in the Spanish capital this weekend.
