The Gunners skipper was a surprise omission from the starting line-up in the club’s derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

“North London is Red, and that’s it,” said Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his surprise omission in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Tottenham.

The captain, who had scored eight goals in his last 10 appearances before Sunday’s north London derby, was left benched throughout the entire match with Alexandre Lacazette starting up front instead.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed he withdrew Aubameyang from the starting line-up due to an internal ‘disciplinary issue’. It was a big call, but the home side still won 2-1 thanks to Martin Odegaard and Lacazette’s goals.

But rather than rue his absence, Aubameyang kept things simple on Instagram with a seven-word message.
