The Gabon international was unable to send a single attempt on target on Sunday, enduring yet another disappointing afternoon.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in decline as he once used to escape defenders with ease but now is more likely to get “bullied” by them, remarks Jamie Redknapp.

Aubameyang was kept at bay by the resolute defensive pair of John Stones and Ruben Dias in Arsenal’s meeting with Manchester City on Sunday.

He struggled to influence the match, failing to even make an attempt on target, as the Gunners fell out to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates.

It has been a tough season for the Gabonese, who has scored just eight goals in 22 league appearances so far.

The 31-year-old striker was awarded a mega-money contract extension worth around £55 million in September and appears to have lost his efficiency in the final third of the pitch since then.

“Aubameyang is past his best,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “He’s going to have moments; he’s going to get hat-tricks. But when I watch him sometimes, it’s like he’s lost his superpower.

“I saw him run past people when he first came to the Premier League. I saw him run past people at Dortmund. Now I’m seeing a player who looks like he’s going to get bullied.”
