The battle for the Spanish top-flight crown is down to the wire, and Los Rojiblancos are determined to not let the title slip through their fingers.

Atletico Madrid will “give their lives” to clinch the La Liga title, says Diego Simeone ahead of his side’s final match of the league campaign.

Atletico pay a visit to Real Valladolid on Saturday for what will essentially be a life-or-death encounter for both contestants.

Three points for Atleti will see them win a first league title in seven years while a victory for Valladolid could help them avoid relegation.

Even a draw would be enough for Simeone’s side to secure the title provided Real Madrid, who play Europa League finalists Villarreal on the same day at the same time, fail to win as only two points separate the two rivals.

“[It is] a final where two teams fight for different goals but both are going to give their lives to achieve it,” Simeone told in his pre-match press conference, via Marca.

“It is a very long season in which we have all gone through many situations to get here. Now we are on the last day with two teams fighting for the title. This is the La Liga.

“We always seek to be competitive. Tomorrow is an important day.”
