Los Rojiblancos will be hoping to record a fifth successive La Liga win but it won’t be easy against a team unbeaten in the last six games.
Atletico Madrid will lock horns with Sevilla for what is expected to be an absorbing game of football at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night.
The fixture was originally scheduled as a season opener but was postponed due to the teams’ extended European campaigns. Atletico progressed to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League in 2019-20 while Sevilla went all the way through and won the Europa League.
There is much to fight for either team. A victory will move the home side four points clear at the top of the table. As for the away team, they can get into the top-four with a positive result.
Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla Form:
Diego Simeone’s men have picked up 38 points from the opening 15 fixtures and are leading the title race despite playing three fewer games than Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
They have won all four league games ever since the 2-0 defeat in El Derbi. They boast the best defensive record in the division, letting in just six goals.
Atleti, however, go into Tuesday’s match low on confidence. They were knocked out of Copa del Rey following a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Segunda Division B side Cornella.
Sevilla, on the other hand, will enter the match on the back of an important 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad.
The Europa League champions have four wins in their last six games and sit sixth in the La Liga table, five points off second-placed Real Madrid with two games in hand.
