The Spanish giants have emerged as a possible destination for Ronaldo ahead of the next season.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has hinted the Rojiblancos won’t make a bid for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Ronaldo has asked Manchester United to allow his departure this summer. But, there are not a lot of suitors in the market for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich emerged as the frontrunners to sign Ronaldo this summer. However, both sides have shown no interest in making an official bid for CR7 ahead of the next season.

The former Real Madrid star then rejected big-money offers from the US and Saudi Arabia. But the recent setbacks hasn’t stopped Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, from searching for a new club for his client.

In recent days, a few Spanish sources have added Atletico Madrid’s name to the list of Ronaldo’s possible destinations.

However, Atletico’s president has hinted at the club’s lack of interest in making a bid for the 37-year-old.

“You have to ask me more difficult questions,” Cerezo responded to a question about Atletico’s interest in Ronaldo.

“To easy questions, simple answers. It is considered answered.”

He added: “We are here for dinner, an early season dinner, with a wonderful squad, sensational players and a fantastic manager.

“We have everything, what more can we ask for?”

Atletico are struggling to fulfil the Financial Fair Play regulations of La Liga ahead of the upcoming season.

Adding Ronaldo to Rojiblancos’ wage books can be difficult as it forces them to either sell a player or add a new revenue source.
