Atletico Madrid have revealed one of their forwards have tested positive for coronavirus. The player in question is Joao Felix.
Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has tested positive for coronavirus, as revealed by the club.
The 21-year-old is now isolating at home and will undergo quarantine for a period of 10 days.
The news comes just four days after team-mates Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso also tested positive for covid-19.
Carrasco and Hermoso missed Atletico’s 4-2 win at Cadiz on Sunday. Felix started that game and played 60 minutes. However, he will now be unavailable for Monday’s clash at home to Celta Vigo.
A short club statement read: “Our player Joao Felix have tested positive for COVID-19.”
“He is isolated and serving quarantine at home.”
Felix has made 25 appearances across all competitions for Atletico this season, scoring nine goals.
However, the striker has scored just once in his last 11 league outings.
Regardless, Atletico remain on an eight game win-streak, with Luis Suarez leading the La Liga scoring charts with 14 goals.
