Angel Correa has signed a new contract at Atletico Madrid until 2026.

Since moving to Atletico Madrid from San Lorenzo in 2014, Angel Correa has developed steadily at the Spanish side. The Argentine has secured his spot in Diego Simeone’s lineup, making 305 appearances for the Rojiblancos.

On Tuesday, Atletico announced they have extended Correa’s contract. The forward was under contract until 2024, but the club have decided to extend his deal for two more years.

During his time at Atletico, Correha has scored 53 goals and provided 49 assists. Only Antoine Griezmann and Koke have more goal involvement under Simeone than the Argentine. The versatile forward can also play in different roles, which significantly improves his side’s squad depth upfront.

In 2021, Correa made 42 La Liga appearances, more than any other player in the Spanish top flight. He helped Atletico by scoring several essential goals during their title-winning campaign.

The Rojiblancos are struggling to regain their best form this season, but Correa has managed to continue his key role. On Sunday, he scored a brace to secure a 2-0 win for Simeone’s men in their match against Rayo Vallecano.

Atletico will face Rayo Majadahonda in a Copa del Rey game on Thursday before meeting Villarreal three days later.
