The La Liga champions are ready to negotiate with Man United over a winter move for the Frenchman.

Anthony Martial continues to struggle for form at Manchester United. The French forward has made only seven league appearances for the Red Devils this season, scoring one goal.

The Frenchman’s agent confirmed last week that his client is eyeing a move away from Man United this winter. Several clubs are keen to sign Martial, who still has three years left on his current contract.

According to Eurosport, Atletico Madrid are weighing up a move for Martial. The La Liga champions are reportedly keen to sign the Frenchman in a swap deal with one of their players.

It is unclear which Atletico player will be involved in the deal. However, the Spanish heavyweights might ask United to choose a player themselves ahead of the negotiations.

United have been eyeing a move for Kieran Trippier in recent months, hoping to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Martial’s potential move to Atletico might finally open the door for Trippier’s move back to the Premier League.

Despite the statement of Martial’s agent, United boss Ralf Rangnick downplayed the transfer rumours around the player.

“I don’t communicate with agents via the media and press. The player hasn’t spoken with me or us about it,” he said.

“After the final training session before the Crystal Palace game, after having trained with team, he informed the doctor and the medical department that he would not be available because the pain in his knee is too big. We have to wait and see.

“Maybe he can train again [on Sunday] but I have to speak to the doctor first. To be honest, what his agent says via the media is not of that much interest to me.”

There are also reports around PSG and Lyon’s interest in a move for Martial. A bidding competition between these clubs could tempt Man United to sell the Frenchman for a reasonable fee.
