Real Madrid have won all of their games across all competitions so far this season.

Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 in their La Liga clash on Sunday. A fantastic first-half display was enough to maintain the La Liga champions’ perfect start to the season.

No Benzema, no problem!

Real Madrid started the game with the trio of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde upfront as Karim Benzema stayed out of action with an injury.

The Blancos established their dominance over midfield while looking for an early breakthrough. Only 18th minute into the game, an incredible assist from Aurelien Tchouameni found Rodrygo, who made it 1-0 for the Blancos.

The Brazilian celebrated the goal by dancing with Vinicius, whose post-goal ritual sparked controversy before the derby.

Vinicius himself came close to scoring only 17 minutes later, rushing into Atletico’s box with an unstoppable run. The left post blocked his shot, but Valverde was there to convert the rebound from close range.

Atletico made several changes at the beginning of the second period while Real Madrid tried to maintain their dominance.

The hosts finally managed to score their first goal through Mario Hermoso in the 83rd minute. The goalscorer received a second yellow card minutes later as the game descended into chaos at its final stages.

The Rojiblancos’ efforts, however, were not enough to save them from defeat. Real Madrid reclaimed the La Liga top spot after securing their sixth consecutive league victory.

After the upcoming international break, the Blancos will return to action by facing Osasuna on October 2.
