Barca snatched a hard-fought win to get back to winning ways in La Liga.

Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0 in their La Liga game on Sunday. The Catalans survived the hosts’ attacks in the second half to take a big step toward winning the title race.

Dembele strikes again!

Atletico Madrid struggled to find their feet in the game while Barca quickly took control of the possession.

The guests’ bright start resulted in their opener in the 22nd minute. Following an assist from Gavi, Ousmane Dembele smashed the ball into the far corner of the net with a powerful shot inside the box.

Barca’s rhythm, however, fizzled out after the goal as Atletico pushed to score the equalizer. The hosts failed to convert their chances as they got more and more frustrated after the break.

Atletico went all-in with their attacks in the final ten minutes, but their attacks lacked enough edge to break Barca’s resistance.

Following a ridiculous fight between Stefen Savic and Ferran Torres, the referee sent both players off in the 94th minute. It was the game’s last major event and perfectly summarized Atletico’s problem in conducting well-composed attacks in the second half.

The defeat keeps Atletico in the fifth spot on the La Liga table. Meanwhile, Barcelona extend their lead at the top spot to three points after Real Madrid’s defeat against Villarreal.
