Real Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday. The Blancos delivered another balanced performance to clinch a hard-fought victory over the Basque side at the King Fahd Stadium.

Real Madrid started the game with confidence, pushing to get an early opener. Bilbao managed to keep them at bay for most of the first half. However, a brilliant curling effort from Luca Modric changed the course of the game.
Following an assist from Rodrygo, the Croatian star broke the deadlock with a stunning strike into the top-right corner. The Blancos then doubled their lead only seven minutes into the second half through Karim Benzema’s spot-kick.
Bilbao pushed hard to get back into the game after Benzema’s goal. They came the closest when Eder Militao received a red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity with a handball. However, Raul Garcia missed the subsequent penalty as Thibaut Courtois delivered a brilliant save.
Real Madrid celebrate winning their 12th Spanish Super Cup trophy. The Blancos continue their excellent form as they seem to be on their way to winning another La Liga title.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are leading the league table with 49 goals from their 21 games. They will face Elche in a Copa del Rey game on Thursday before meeting them again in La Liga three days later.
