Atalanta full-back Gosens has revealed a post-match story with Ronaldo in his biography that left ‘blushed and ashamed’.

Robin Gosens claims Cristiano Ronaldo coldly turned him down when he asked the Juventus star for his jersey at the end of the match.

The Atalanta full-back eagerly approached Ronaldo at the end of a match, hoping to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a CR7 jersey. He didn’t state when the incident happened but insists his idol’s rejection left him crushed.

“After the game against Juventus, I tried to fulfill my dream of having Ronaldo jersey,” Gosens wrote in his biography “Dreams are Worthwhile” as quoted by Goal Italia.

“After the final whistle I went to him, having not even gone public to celebrate … but Ronaldo did not accept. I asked: ‘Cristiano, can I have your shirt?’ He didn’t even look at me, he just said: ‘No!’”

The German added: “I was completely blushed and ashamed.

“I went away and felt small. You know that moment when something embarrassing happens and you look around to see if anyone noticed it? That’s what I felt and tried to hide it.”

Gosens is unbeaten in his four games against Ronaldo. Atalanta have held Juventus to three draws in Serie A and thrashed the Bianconeri 3-0 in a Coppa Italia quarter-final clash in January 2019, although Gosens only played for one minute in that match.
