What a start for Liverpool in the Champions League campaign as they have now won their first three games in Group D. Yet again, Diogo Jota proved his worth by scoring his first hat-trick for the Reds following an emphatic 5-0 win over Atalanta.

The Portugal international received a great opportunity from Jurgen Klopp to claim his spot in the starting XI ahead of Roberto Firmino. And therefore, Jota managed to impress the boss with three exclusive goals for Liverpool.

Early in the 16th minute, Atalanta was punished for their weak performance. Jota scored the opener with a left-foot dink over Marco Sportiello to take the lead for Liverpool. The home side could not handle the constant pressure from Klopp’s men as they conceded a second one.

And just after the half-hour mark, Jota drilled in a perfect ball from Joe Gomez for his second.

The Merseyside displayed complete dominance in the second half with an impressive performance over Atalanta. In the 47th minute, Mohamed Salah burst into the Italian box to create a composed finish. He now equals the record of Michael Owen in the second rank to score the highest goals in Europe.

Furthermore, Sadio Mane brought in the fourth goal for Liverpool within the next few moments. He then turned to assist Jota in the 54th minute. The former Wolves star did not make any mistake to run past the defender to pass it in the empty net.

With this energetic victory over Atalanta, Liverpool now grasps a hold of the group stage with nine points followed by Ajax in the second place.
