The former Leicester City star is already frustrated with his lack of game time at Villa Park.
Youri Tielemans has admitted his situation at Aston Villa is “not pleasant” after a summer move from Leicester City.
The Belgian star completed a free move to Villa Park during the summer transfer window. However, he is yet to secure his first Premier League start under Unai Emery.
The manager has used Tielemanas as a substitute in all four of Villa’s league matches so far. But the 26-year-old hopes to improve his place in the pecking order in the coming weeks.
“The situation is not pleasant,” Tielemans told reporters ahead of Belgium’s match against Azerbaijan. “I told the manager that I came to Villa to play. He understands me, but at the moment, he prefers to play with the two midfielders from last season. He told me that soon, there will be a succession of games and I’ll get more playing time.
“I know that answer doesn’t get me anywhere, but what should I do? As soon as I get the opportunity, I want to take it. So far, I’ve started once, in the Conference League.”
Villa will host Crystal Palace in their first game after the international break on September 16. Emery’s side will then face Legia Warszawa in the Conference League five days later.
