Liverpool defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in their Premier League clash on Tuesday. The Reds went level on points with Manchester City while Villa suffered their first defeat in four games.
Mane strikes again!
Aston Villa shocked Liverpool with an early opener through Douglas Luiz in the third minute. However, Liverpool managed to get back into the game by scoring the equalizer only three minutes later.
Following a free-kick, Joel Matip converted Virgil van Dijk’s blocked shot from close range to make it 1-1 for the Reds.
Villa found a few chances to restore their lead before halftime, but Liverpool intensified their attacks as soon as the second period started.
The Reds finally completed their comeback five minutes past the hour mark. And, as expected in our Goalscorer Tips for today, it was Sadio Mane who delivered again for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Following a precise cross from Luis Dias, the Senegalese star made it 2-1 for Liverpool with a sublime header.
The Reds continued their attacks after the goal but couldn’t convert their chances to increase the lead.
What’s next for Liverpool?
Liverpool go level on points with Man City but stay second due to the Citizens’ higher goal difference. Pep Guardiola’s side can restore their three-point lead at the top of the table by beating Wolves tomorrow.
On the other hand, the Reds must prepare to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
