AS Roma is ready to extend contract for in-form player

According to a report, Roma is ready to hand in-form Henrikh Mkhitaryan a contract extension at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma is reportedly set to extend Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s deal at the Olimpico until the summer of 2022.

The Armenian playmaker moved on a permanent deal to the Giallorossi after impressing while on loan from Arsenal last term.

Mkhitaryan happens to be enjoying himself in new surroundings and has continued to show his qualities in the Italian capital this term.

He is in quite some form at the moment. Before the international break, he bagged a hat-trick against Genoa and returned after the brace in similar form. He got a brace on Sunday afternoon as Roma claimed a 3-0 win over Parma.

That means Mkhitaryan has now scored five and assisted four times in eight Serie A games so far.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the attacking midfielder has a performance option in his deal and both parties are interested in extending his stay beyond June 2021.

Roma are said to be pleased with the player who has mentioned multiple times how pleased he’s been with life in Italy

The former Manchester United man is now just formalities away from signing a new deal until 2022. The report claims a deal could even be agreed upon before Christmas.

On the continental front, Mkhitaryan has also contributed one goal and one assist in three appearances in Roma’s Europa League charge so far.
