The Rossoneri narrowly picked up all three points against the Giallorossi to put an end to their four-match winless run.
AC Milan returned to winning ways in Serie A on Sunday as they beat AS Roma 2-0.
It appeared that the first half would end as it had started with the two teams still unseparated until the 43rd minute. However, a foul by Federico Fazio on Davide Calabria inside the box saw a penalty awarded to Milan which Franck Kessie converted to ensure his side go into the break with a lead.
Just five minutes into the second half, Roma found the equalizer. Jordan Veretout, after dribbling past a couple of defenders, unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Gianluigi Donnarumma and into the back of the net.
A quick response was produced yet again, as the visitors regained their lead within the next eight minutes. Ante Rebic hammered a shot into the bottom corner to score what turned out to be the match-winner.
AC Milan remain at second place in the Serie A standings, four points behind rivals Inter Milan. AS Roma, meanwhile, climb up to fifth with 44 points from 24 games.
