Arthur Melo said he was persuaded by the ‘ambitious project’ at Juventus alongside the dream of playing with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Arthur Melo is part of the newest additions for Juventus ahead of the upcoming season.
The Brazil international was presented as a new Juventus player today. He spoke highly of the Bianconeri project ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Arthur joins Weston McKennie as new reinforcements in midfield for Andrea Pirlo.
The 24-year-old spoke to the Juve fans for the first time and explained what convinced him to choose the Bianconeri as his next club. The thought of playing with Ronaldo was difficult to ignore.
“This is a very important day for me, I thank my family, the managers, Fabio [Paratici], and everyone who have welcomed me,” Arthur said at a press conference via the club’s website.
“I have the privilege to play with great players, playing with Ronaldo is almost the realisation of a dream.”
“The project convinced me, it’s very ambitious.”
Arthur also mentioned that he has not discussed his position at Juventus with coach Andrea Pirlo.
“I haven’t spoken in detail with the coach. He has played football like few others, he moved and played in a unique way.”
“I feel the privilege of playing for such a coach. We haven’t talked about the formation and position on the pitch yet.”
Arthur will be looking to stake a regular claim in the heart of Juventus midfield for the upcoming season.
