Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will have no problems about Lionel Messi moving to the Premier League, even if it’s with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta is open to seeing Lionel Messi ply his trade in the Premier League.

It started as a slight rumor but it’s grown to be something more at the moment.

Now more than ever, there is a chance Lionel Messi and Barcelona would end their 16-year relationship.

The Barca captain happens to be weighing a move elsewhere and Manchester City are the current favourites for his signature.

Arteta is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and admits he remains a fan of his boyhood club. The Gunners boss says Messi in the Premier League would bring even more prestige for the competition.

“I’ve been a Barcelona fan since I was young so it’s always sad to see what in my opinion has been the best player in football history leave that football club, but, I don’t know, let’s see what happens and if he comes to England, we are all going to enjoy it.” he said via Goal.

Messi in the Premier League with City also means he will face Arteta’s Arsenal. The Spanish manager doesn’t mind at all.

He continued: “It doesn’t matter, it’s good for football. If it’s not there we might find him in the Champions League. You want the best players in your league. For me, that is the best thing as an athlete, to have the most competitive league in the world.

“The Premier League always had that. With Ronaldo, I played against him when he was great, it raises the level of every individual and every team as well.”
