The Spanish manager has been warned against allowing the permanent transfer of one of the rising stars on the Gunners’ books.

Joe Willock has “got the temperament”, remarks Rio Ferdinand as he urges Mikel Arteta to not let the player leave Arsenal on a permanent transfer.

Willock has been on sensational form ever since joining Newcastle United on loan on the deadline day of the January transfer market.

The 21-year-old has scored four goals in nine starts for Newcastle and has found the back of the net in each of his last three substitute appearances, scoring two equalizers and a match-winner.

The midfielders struggled for consistent minutes on the pitch in the first half of the season at the Emirates, and a former Manchester United defender suggests Arsenal shouldn’t have sent him out on loan.

Ferdinand told FIVE: “You know what, I like Joe Willock,

“He’s someone at Arsenal that I would have kept. He’s a good young player. If Arsenal don’t take him back and have him around that squad… I don’t know, man.

“I really like him and I like his personality. He’s not shy to come on the big stage and play and perform.

“‘And the last three goals he’s scored have been massive goals for Newcastle. It shows he’s got the temperament.”
