The experienced defender is emerging into a crucial member of the Gunners team, having started five of the last six matches.
Arsenal are yet to hold discussions with David Luiz regarding a contract extension, says Mikel Arteta.
Luiz had been a subject of criticism due to his lack of defensive awareness and struggled with some fitness issues early in the season but has produced an upturn in form as of late.
Arsenal have managed three clean sheets in their last four Premier League outings, and their defensive firmness comes down to the Brazilian forming a strong partnership with Rob Holding in the backline.
The Brazil international, who switched allegiance between the London sides in the summer of 2019, however, is running out of contract at the Emirates.
“No, there are still a few months to go on that,” replied Arteta when questioned whether he has held talks with the former Chelsea man about a renewal, via BT. “I talk to him all the time about this kind of thing so we’re in a good position.
Asked whether he wants Luiz to remain at the Emirates, the former Gunners captain added: “What I want is for him to keep performing like this to the end of the season.”
