Ahead of Arsenal’s first game back from the international break, Mikel Arteta gave an update on Thomas Partey’s availability and some team news.

Mikel Arteta is keeping his fingers crossed on Thomas Partey’s availability for Monday’s clash with Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Partey impressed during the international break, scoring two important goals to help Ghana seal back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe in two World Cup qualifiers.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder’s fine form makes him indispensable for Arsenal, but will he be ready to face Palace?

“Well, let’s see. We haven’t had the players here yet,” said Gunners boss Arteta about Partey’s availability in a press conference this week.

“Some of them because they’re still traveling and they’ve not been assessed by the medical staff, but hopefully.

“He finished both games really well. He played well and scored a couple of goals like many other players did in this international break, and hopefully, everybody is in the right condition on Monday to help us win the game.”

Elsewhere, Granit Xhaka remains the only player out with a long-term knee injury. Arteta reported the midfielder is ‘progressing really well’ but won’t be available anytime soon. He did add, though, that everyone else is doing fine at the moment.
