Mikel Arteta made comments on the in-form Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette ahead of their game against Liverpool on the weekend.

Mikel Arteta was full in praise of Alexandre Lacazette as the Frenchman has shown brilliant form recently.

If you watched the latest Arsenal games, the 29-year-old displayed outstanding performances including the late equaliser for the 3-3 draw vs West Ham. Suggestions have been flowing towards Arteta stating that Lacazette should be starting games ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

While speaking regarding their next Premier League fixture against Liverpool, the Spanish boss commented on the France international.

On Lacazette’s form this year, the Arsenal boss said: “He has been in really good form for months now.”

“He is sustaining that level, scoring goals and providing the team with something different as well. His work rate has been phenomenal and it’s what we want.”

“We need those type of players hitting the best level. Because over the course of the season we have been missing goals, that creativity in the final third. And we need those players to step in and make the difference for the team.”

After the end of this season, Lacazette will have one year left to run out at Emirates Stadium. Although he has been linked to several clubs including big names such as Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Roma.

Arteta talked about Lacazette’s contract situation saying: “I’m always happy when people talk about our players and speculate. That means they are doing well and getting attention from other clubs.”

“The situation with Laca we will address in the summer. Speak to him, propose the future we want and that’s it.”

“Now I just want players focused and only focused on performing. And getting the best out of them for the team.”
