Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been impressed with Martin Odegaard so far. The Spanish manager singled out some qualities of the youngster.
In just a short time in English football, Martin Odegaard has already caught the eye.
The 22-year-old joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid back in January as he sought more game-time.
With the Gunners facing creativity struggles, Odegaard has been deployed in the no.10 role and has been fairly impressive since his debut. He has looked better and better with each passing game and has shown lots of promise.
The Norwegian starlet had another impressive performance in the north London derby and marked it with a goal that started a crucial comeback for Arsenal at the Emirates.
Reflecting on the player’s performance, Arteta has been pleased with what he has seen from the 22-year-old. Specifically, he singled out some special traits he has seen from the youngster so far.
“He’s got a real stamina and he’s so talented, but his work-rate is incredible,” the Gunners boss said to the club’s website.
“Not only that, he’s intelligent. The timing of his runs, when he presses, his body shape. I’m really impressed and he had an incredible performance today. He’s giving us something different and it’s making us better.”
Odegaard has now scored in two consecutive games for Arsenal and might have made the no.10 role his own already. The Gunners only signed him on loan but things may change soon. If he keeps up his performances, it won’t be a surprise if Mikel Arteta moves to sign him permanently.
