Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been ruled out of the dugout as the Gunners meet Manchester City in the Premier League on New Year’s Day.

Mikel Arteta will not be able to guide his team Arsenal when they meet Manchester City on January 1, 2022.

The Gunners have confirmed that the Spaniard has been tested positive for Covid yet again and is undergoing a period of isolation.

As a matter of fact, Arteta has contracted the virus for the second time in nearly two years. Previously, his result came out positive in March 2020, prior to the termination of English football.

Arsenal released an official statement saying: “Mikel Arteta will miss our match against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after testing positive for COVID-19.”

“Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well.”

The Spanish manager expressed his sadness as he spoke with BBC Sport: “This is really disappointing. I took the test after feeling poorly. I will be at work as soon as I’m allowed.”

It has been reported that the club has shut down all the activities at the London Colney training ground. And the members who were in contact with the 37-year-old have been moved into safe isolation.
