Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta believes his central forward looked sharp during the game against Leicester City.

Arsenal failed to score in a second successive Premier League encounter, losing 1-0 at home to Leicester City. It was the Gunners’ third defeat in the last four top-flight outings.

Their central striker Alexander Lacazette was a victim of criticism for his poor attacking display last evening.

His head coach, on the other hand, was not disappointed with the Frenchman’s performance. Arteta believes the goals will come for Lacazette.

“Obviously, strikers need goals and he started tonight, he looked sharp and he was really aggressive in his play,” said Mikel Arteta via Metro.

“Yeah, he had an opportunity to score that goal and he didn’t. I just support them and give them more confidence and [help them] try to create more.

“I was really pleased with the first half, the way we pressed, the aggression we showed against a team that are very capable of breaking that pressure and creating chances against you.

“We were very effective against that, we were on top of the game, we restricted to nothing, we had the right opportunities to attack good space and create some chances,” the Spaniard concluded.

Lacazette opened the season with three goals in the opening three games – netting a piece in each one.

However, he was unable to find the net in his last two outings. Arsenal lost both games with the same scoreline, 1-0.
