The Norway international was in the starting XI for the first time since making a loan switch to north London in January.

Mikel Arteta was pleased with Martin Odegaard’s performance in Arsenal’s Premier League match against Leeds United.

Odegaard was handed his first Arsenal start in the 4-2 win over Leeds. He remained on the pitch for a good 78 minutes before being subbed off for Mohamed Eleny.

The Norwegian midfielder had made two substitute appearances prior to the match on Sunday ever since joining the club on loan from Real Madrid in January.

“Big credit to him to play first Premier League start against Leeds after not playing much football in the last three months,” said the Gunners boss said of Odegaard in his post-match press conference, via Football London.

“To run the way he did how comfortable and creative he was on the ball and the personality he showed on the game it was great.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his first Premier League hat-trick while Hector Bellerin also got on the scoresheet in the emphatic win at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal moved up to tenth in the league standings.

“I think we’re much more efficient and more composed,” Arteta added. “We took our time when it was needed. Our decision making was much better.”
