The Gunners have bolstered their squad after narrowly missing out on the Premier League trophy last season.

Arsenal are ready to fight for the Premier League title after their recent recruitments, according to former manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners lost the title race to Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning Manchester City last season. But that has only motivated them to further bolster their squad this summer.

So far, Arsenal have added Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber to their ranks. The Gunners have also joined the race for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya in recent days.

“I feel that Mikel is doing well, making the right decisions, and having an organised team who, for me, can now challenge for the championship,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.

“We did it last year, let’s get over the line this year. I’m confident because last year with eight games to go, I always felt we would do it.

“We invested again a lot this year and strengthened the squad well, so overall I’m very happy with the three signings. We have all the tools to do well and to challenge for the championship.”

Arsenal will take on Manchester City in the Community Shield match on Sunday. The Gunners will then take on Nottingham Forest in their opening game of the new Premier League campaign six days later.
