The Arsenal forward excelled the all-time record for U-21 following England’s easy 2-1 victory over Turkey.

Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal’s forward is England‘s Under-21 top goalscorer with his remarkable strike during the game on Tuesday against Turkey.

At the Molineux Stadium, Nketiah boosted England’s game with his 88th-minute goal at the U21 European Championship qualifier. Subsequently, putting the team in a preferred position in the game, giving them a win of 2-1 against Turkey.

Consequently, Nketiah has outperformed the record he held close by Alan Shearer and Francis Jeffers. Evidently, he scored his 14th goal for the Young Lions.

With the success, England booked a group-stage spot at the following year’s U-21 European Championship. This will be co-facilitated by Hungary and Slovenia.

Before the match, England U21 lead trainer Aidy Boothroyd gave some pointers to the Gunners striker for great things in the future. In addition, he mentioned that the striker has “an aura of responsibility and leadership”.

“There’s no doubt about it. He’s destined for big things,” Boothroyd said. “His personality and his persona around the lads, he has an aura of responsibility and leadership about him.

“He’s a natural, all the players like and respect him. We know what he gives on the pitch but he’s good off the pitch. This is what we want our young England players to look like.

“How far can he go? He’ll have to play regular games for his club.”

How far can he go?

The 21-year-old put efforts to make it to Gunners’ senior team. He is showing up so far to a total of seven appearances in the 2020-21 season and scoring two goals. In any case, he just began one of Arsenal’s four Premier League games.

Furthermore, Nketiah returned to Arsenal after a loan spell from Leeds United. To everyone’s surprise, the youngster made it to the senior team starting XI.

In the last Premier League season, the striker scored two times. He started seven games out of 13.

Boothroyd included that he trusts Nketiah can go far in his profession. As he compared him with two of England’s great players from the previous and current times.

“He’s got work to do and he’ll be the first person who will tell you that. But he can do really well. There are always comparisons with top players over generations. You look at the career that Alan [Shearer] had and Harry Kane, who is our England captain now,” Boothroyd said.

“If Eddie can get to that point where like those two players, he’s in on goal, and you know he’s going to score consistently, that’s when you make that step from a young player to a senior player.

“He is nearly there, not far off, but he is in the company of those players I have mentioned which shows you how much I think about him and how much we think about him in the system.”
