The Gunners have been playing without an undisputed No.1 goalkeeper this season.

Arsene Wenger has called on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to establish a “clear” hierarchy among his goalkeepers. Wenger’s comments come in the wake of Arteta’s rotation policy for the goalkeeper position, which has left many Arsenal fans and pundits perplexed.

Wenger expressed his support for Aaron Ramsdale, who has recently lost his status as the Gunners’ undisputed first-choice goalkeeper following the loan acquisition of David Raya from Brentford.

“Personally, I like Ramsdale. If I was in his position, I would not give up because I believe he has a chance to come back into the team,” he told beIN Sport.

Asked whether Arteta needs to pick a No.1 keeper instead of switching between Ramsdale and Raya, the former manager responded: “Always, that’s my belief. I don’t believe in rotating goalkeeper it’s a lack of clarity of the hierarchy.

“That doesn’t work unless the hierarchy exists until you say ‘look it’s two or three bad performances and now it’s a change and I give a chance to the other one’. The hierarchy has to be clear.”

Raya kept another clean sheet when Arsenal smashed Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday. The Gunners will return to action with a Carabao Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday.
