A former assistant coach to Unai Emery believes that Arsenal should give Mikel Arteta more time to set things right.

Arsenal has been asked to trust the doings of Mikel Arteta in spite of a catastrophic start to the season. The Gunners, however, managed to grab their first win in the Premier League battle against Chelsea after seven matches. It will now depend on how Arsenal perform in the upcoming games against Brighton and Hove Albion and West Brom.

If Arteta’s side continues to lose more fixtures, it could mean goodbye for the Spanish head coach. Additionally, it has been more than a year since he took charge of the team after Unai Emery’s exit. It seems that both the managers are not able to live up to the standards of Arsene Wenger.

Trust is needed.

Emery’s assistant coach Juan Carlos Carcedo, though, has a different opinion regarding Mikel’s management. He left Arsenal along with Emery in November 2019 and now serves for the Spanish third-tier club Ibiza.

Carcedo told The Athletic: “It is not easy. After so many years with Wenger, it was not an easy moment. It is true that there were changes in many different areas of the club, but the club hierarchy has to try to keep things calm and give confidence to the people working there, now it is Mikel and [technical director] Edu.

“I know it is not easy sometimes, with results, but constant changes are not good and you need to have the patience for the results to arrive, and so that the people who work there now can achieve the things they are fighting for.”
