The big-spending Blues are trying to balance the books by selling players, but are they still lacking quality in some areas? Darren Bent gives his verdict.

Arsenal transfer target David Raya should reject the Gunners to join Premier League rivals Chelsea, according to ex-England international Darren Bent.

With less than a year left on his Brentford contract, Raya could be on the move. The goalkeeper has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal. The Gunners have reportedly agreed on terms with him. They’re now in talks with Brentford, who seek around £40 million in compensation.

But rather than join Arsenal, Bent thinks Raya should take a look at Chelsea. He believes a Stamford Bridge move is the perfect solution for both the club and the player.

“David Raya is better than [current Chelsea No.1 goalkeeper] Kepa Arrizabalaga,” Bent said during a show on talkSPORT.

“So why would Chelsea not go for him?”

Bent added: “Why would David Raya not think, ‘Hold on, why am I going to Arsenal to play behind Aaron Ramsdale? Why don’t I go to Chelsea and be their number one?'”

Bent, who played for Tottenham Hotspur during his nine-year Premier League career, thinks a Raya-Chelsea deal is a no-brainer. In fact, he said that if he were Chelsea, he would be trying to get Raya on board.

So, will Raya take Bent’s advice and make a move to Stamford Bridge? We’ll have to wait and see on that one.

For now, Chelsea will focus on the upcoming friendly against Borussia Dortmund. This will be the club’s final game of their US tour. The teams will play in Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium.
