The Gunners hope to have found their next midfield star after completing a big-money move for Rice.

Roy Keane believes Declan Rice’s physicality can play a major role in Arsenal’s success next season.

A lengthy transfer saga saw Rice complete a £105m move to Emirates, ending his impressive spell as West Ham’s captain. Most observers believe Rice will play a more attacking role at Arsenal compared to his central midfielder position at West Ham.

“If he is going to play a little higher up the pitch, I can think he definitely has that quality in terms of getting at more goals to him,” Keane told ITV.

“He’s obviously got that physical strength; he can get in the box.”

Keane, however, believes Arsenal have overpaid to sign Rice, saying he’s not worth the club record fee.

“He’s certainly not worth over £100 million! But a really good player. We will find out over the next year or two how good Declan is,” He added.

“He turns up every week, he is a big strong boy. We have talked about that physicality, they lacked that in the last month or two.”

Arsenal will take on Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League match of the new season on August 12.
