Arsenal disclosed in an email sent to their supporters that they hope to welcome them back into the Emirates Stadium in October.
Arsenal, like all the other English clubs, could not allow fans to attend home games since March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2019/20 season resumed in June following a three-month spell of lockdown, with the Gunners playing out their remaining fixtures behind closed doors both at home and on the road.
While seeing the players back in action was a welcome sight for fans regardless, the club still took some heavy hits financially thanks to a loss of matchday revenue from ticket sales.
All English sides have, however, held talks with the British government to discuss ways to allow fans to attend games in the upcoming Premier League season, which begins on September 12.
The one thing clear right now is that there is certainly no way fans will be present for Arsenal’s season opener away to Fulham.
But the club did reveal plans to welcome back a certain number of fans to their 60,000-capacity seater Emirates Stadium on October 3 in a match against Sheffield United.
“We are continuing to work hard with the Premier League and UK Government on plans to bring fans back to stadiums, initially with reduced capacities,” read a club email to the supporters, as cited on Goal.
“We are disappointed that our home fixture against West Ham United on Saturday 19 September will be played behind closed doors, but based on current Government guidelines, we hope to be able to welcome supporters back to Emirates Stadium for the Sheffield United game scheduled for Saturday 3 October.
“We will share full information regarding fan attendance at reduced capacity matches by Wednesday 2 September.”
UEFA, on the other hand, could use the upcoming Super Cup clash between the Champions League and Europa League winners to reintroduce fans as a trial on September 24.
