The Football Association charged Arsenal for an ill-tempered situation during their defeat against Manchester City on Saturday.

Arsenal have been charged by the Football Association for the misconduct of their players during the Premier League loss to Manchester City on New Year’s Day.

As we all witnessed, the Gunners defender Gabriel Magalhaes was shown a red card after two fouls in the second half. And the Citizens rounded off the game with a 2-1 comeback at the Emirates Stadium.

Bukayo Saka provided Arsenal with the lead, but Pep Guardiola’s side found themselves in a controversial penalty situation just before the hour mark. Since Granit Xhaka had fouled Bernardo Silva, referee Stuart Atwell pointed out to the spot after a VAR review.

Allegedly, Gabriel was shown the second yellow card for causing a scene before the penalty was taken. Regardless of that, Riyad Mahrez calmly equalised for City followed by a Rodri winner late in the injury time.

The FA issued a statement concerning the rule break from Arsenal players during the 59th-minute penalty event.

It read: “Arsenal FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1. Following its Premier League game against Manchester City FC on Saturday (01/01/22).”

“It is alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion. During the 59th minute and the club has until Friday (07/01/22) to respond.”
