Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr are eyeing a January move for the Arsenal outcast.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to London after ending his Africa Cup of Nations early. Suffering from post-Covid health issues, the Gabon captain did not make any appearances in the tournament.

Back in Arsenal, Aubemyang has different problems. The Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has stripped him of his side’s captaincy while also freezing him out of the squad. The club have now received an offer that might solve the problem both for them and the player.

According to the Athletic, Al Nassr wants to sign Aubameyang on a loan deal, with an obligation to buy in the summer. The Suadi Arabian club are reportedly keen to pay a £6.7 million fee for the striker.

Arsenal are yet to give their response to the bid. The club officials are reportedly not sure whether to let the striker leave mid-season.

The Gunners are keen to sign a new number nine, with Dusan Vlahovic being their main target. However, in case they fail to bring in a new striker, their squad depth upfront might leave Arteta with few options up front.

The Gunners boss was asked about Aubameyang’s fitness earlier this week.

“He’s in London and now he’s going through some examinations,” Arteta said.

“We haven’t had any clarity from the Gabon national team about the reasons why he came back,

“Obviously it’s our obligation to make sure that medically the player is safe, is in good condition and that there are not any issues relating to that.

“And to try to avoid any suggestion that that is the case because so far historically everything that we have done with the player, he has never had that issue.

“So let’s go step by step, let’s do the right examinations and make sure the player’s health is in the best possible condition. Then we will see what happens.
