The Gunners will have one of their most promising youngsters back ahead of the next season.

William Saliba has confirmed he will return to Arsenal before the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

The French star left the Emirates to join Marseille on a season-long loan deal last summer. It was Saliba’s third loan spell since joining the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in 2019.

Following a brilliant season at Marseille, the 21-year-old is now eager to finally kick-start his career in north London.

“I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal,” the Arsenal star told Telefoot.

“I have played zero matches with Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.

“That depends only on me. In any case, leaving (Arsenal) like that would be a shame.”

Saliba was a key player for Marseille as they finished second in Ligue 1 last season. The Frenchman won the league’s Young Player of the Year award while also securing a spot in France’s squad for the UEFA Nations League games.

The defender came in as a substitute during Les Bleus’ 2-1 defeat against Denmark on Friday. Let’s see if Didier Deschamps would give Saliba his first start in the national team when they face Croatia this Monday.
