Arsenal must be ready to provide Mikel Arteta with enough resources to strengthen his squad as per ex-Gunners star Kevin Campbell.

Kevin Campbell believes Arsenal can only consider their 2020/21 campaign a success if they win a trophy and claim a top-four finish.

Last season, the Gunners could only manage a disappointing eighth-place finish. However, a record 14th FA Cup win overshadowed the reality of things at the club.

Mikel Arteta has improved the Gunners style of play since his arrival. However, the North London side are far from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in terms of quality.

So far, Arsenal have only brought in Gabriel Magalahes and free-agent Willian as their only summer reinforcements.

Kevin Campbell insists the Gunners must go all out to secure some signings before the end of the transfer window on the 5th of October.

He also adds that the Gunners must lift silverware once again before they can consider next season a ‘success’.

“Arsenal need to finish in the top four and win a trophy for it to be considered a successful season,” Campbell said in an interview with Genting Bet

“Obviously, they won the FA Cup last season but it was their worst finish ever in the Premier League.

“Arsenal might not have enough quality at the moment to finish in the top four but they are getting there. The transfer window doesn’t close until October 5th and there needs to be some moving and shaking in order to get the squad up to speed.

“I think this transfer window is the most important one for the club for the past five or 10 years – they need to allow Arteta to move and shake.

“Arsenal have quality in their squad but over the course of a season, they’ll need to be able to contend with injuries, lots of form, etc. It is the consistency that they need and they don’t have the squad for it yet.”

Arsenal are linked with a quality player in Houssem Aouar but financial implications of the deal makes a move rather uncertain.
