The final 16 teams of the 2022/23 Europa League have learned their next opponents following the end of the knockout play-off rounds.
Arsenal and Manchester United will head to the Iberian Peninsula for their respective last-16 ties in the Europa League.
Following Thursday’s 4-3 aggregate victory over Barcelona in their play-off tie, Manchester United will take on another LaLiga team in Real Betis in the round of 16.
Betis, who won last season’s Copa del Rey, qualified for this round by winning Group C. The Seville-based club had the best group-stage record, winning five of the six matches (D1).
Likewise, Arsenal didn’t play in the play-off tie, having finished top of Group A. They visit Lisbon for the first leg of their last-16 tie against Sporting CP. The Portuguese side qualified for this stage after overcoming Danish club FC Midtjylland 5-1 on aggregate in their play-off game.
Elsewhere, six-time champions Sevilla play Fenerbahce, and last season’s Europa Conference League winners Roma will face Real Sociedad.
The Europa League last-16 fixtures will take place on 9 and 16 March.
