According to reports from Spain, Arsenal have made a major breakthrough in their pursuit of Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Martin Odegaard on loan.

The 22-year-old was first linked with the Gunners earlier this week after he handed in a transfer request at Real Madrid.

Odegaard is in search of regular football and it is being claimed that a possible deal has gone through quickly.

According to Spanish outlet El Confidencial, the 22-year-old is heading to north London as ‘Arsenal will be the Norwegian’s destiny’.

Odegaard spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and impressed with seven goals and six assists in a brilliant individual campaign.

However, he returned to Los Blancos last summer but has failed to work his way into Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans.

So far this season, Odegaard only has 256 La Liga minutes to his name.

He is said to have preferred a return to La Real this month, but the report claims Arsenal pushed harder for the move and have beaten the La Liga side to his signature.

Mikel Arteta was asked about the club’s interest in Odegaard but chose to remain coy on the matter.

The Gunners are in search of attacking additions especially in midfield and a loan move for the Real Madrid man could be the temporary answer to that.

Should the report go on to be true, Arsenal could complete the loan move for Odegaard over the coming days.
