Arsenal loanee spoke regarding his wish to spend more time at Marseille instead of returning to the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
Arsenal loanee Matteo Guendouzi is eager to spend his time at Marseille on a “long-term” basis.
To begin with, the French midfielder joined the Gunners in 2018 proving himself to be a crucial member of Unai Emery’s plans.
However, the Spanish boss was sacked in 2019, and with that began the downfall of Guendouzi. He struggled to find more time on the field at Arsenal.
Due to disciplinary problems between Mikel Arteta and the 22-year-old, he was sent on a one-year loan to Marseille.
As a matter of good fortune, the youngster has found his best form at Stade Velodrome in France. And even though he is still under a contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2023, he prefers to stay in Ligue 1.
“Today, I am on loan and still bound by my contract at Arsenal. But I’m totally focused on what to do with Olympique de Marseille,” Guendouzi told reporters.
“And yes, it’s a club with which I want to project myself into the future. And I want to join in the long term.”
“These are discussions that I had already had with the club before signing and I feel very comfortable there. And that’s why I want to continue to have fun at Olympique de Marseille.”
