Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Thomas Partey needs a midfield partner of ‘real caliber’.
While aware it is a ‘massive if’, Ian Wright believes Yves Bissouma fits the bill as a midfield partner for Thomas Partey.
The Malian midfielder has impressed in the Premier League since joining Brighton from Lille in a €16.90 million deal in 2018.
Bissouma’s progress has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United.
Kevin Campbell on Yves Bissouma: “If you get any change out of £40m-£50m, you’ve done well, I think he’s that good. He’s an Arsenal fan so I hear! He’s got to be going to a team who has ambitions to push up that league & challenge.” [Sky via @afcstuff] pic.twitter.com/zJbPXBI3ms

Reports, though, had emerged in January claiming Arsenal had contacted the player’s agent, Michael N’Cho. They also alleged Bissouma would favor the Gunners over any other English club.
Nothing more concrete has materialized since then, but Wright continues to dream even if the odds are stacked against Arsenal right now.
“You need someone next to Partey of real caliber. People keep mentioning Bissouma, if only,” said Wright on Optus Sport for ‘The Kelly and Wrighty Show’.
“For someone like Bissouma, Arsenal have to be in European competition.
“We need that player next to him, we want to play out the back – get it to Partey, and have that solidity of Partey and – I know I’m dreaming, but Bissouma – to get the people to a player like [Martin] Odegaard, if he stays. A massive if.”
Arsenal take on Fulham in a London derby on Sunday afternoon for their latest Premier League match at the Emirates.
