Rasmus Hojlund is yet to find his best form after completing a summer move to United.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has backed Rasmus Hojlund to keep on scoring for Manchester United after ending his Premier League goal drought.
Hojlund scored his first league goal for the Red Devils as they defeated Aston Villa 3-2 on Tuesday. Since completing a £72m move from Atalanta in the summer, Hojlund has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. But Wright believes the goal against Villa could become a stepping stone for the 20-year-old to reach his best form.
“You just felt relief for this poor guy,” Wright said of Hojlund on his Wrighty’s House podcast. “He is 20, and it is arguably one of the worst periods in Manchester United’s history, one of them. You have got a 20-year-old who has been brought in for a fortune, who has not scored yet in the Premier League, and he scores.”
He added: “It must be so tough being under the microscope of Manchester United, the global fans, he still hadn’t scored, to see him score, I just hope he can continue to do that, I really really do.”
United will take on Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup next week.
