The Frenchman played a major role in Arsenal’s crucial victory over City.

William Saliba was one of Arsenal’s best players during their 1-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

The French centre-back man-marked Erling Haaland throughout the game as the Norway international failed to register a single shot.

After an uneventful first half, the Gunners managed to increase the pressure on City’s backline in the second period. A late goal from Gabriel Martinelli won the game for the Gunners, ending City’s 12-game winning streak against them in the Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Brazil international said: “I am not the man. I think everyone has a part in this victory. I scored the goal but it was the whole team and the staff and everyone.”

Martinelli’s comments aren’t wide off the mark, as Arsenal’s defensive stability played a great role in their home win over City.

Saliba won 100% of his duels against Man City while maintaining a 97% passing accuracy. The Frenchman didn’t commit a single foul and wasn’t dribbled past by any Man City player.

The Arsenal defender was set to join France for their upcoming matches against Netherlands and Scotland later this month. However, he has withdrawn from Les Blues after suffering a toe injury against City.
