The Hammers hope to spark a bidding war for the in-demand midfielder.

West Ham are reportedly planning to reject Arsenal’s second offer for Declan Rice.

Following Bayern Munich’s decision to pull out of the race to sign Rice, Arsenal hoped to prize away the midfielder for £80m plus add-ons.

West Ham quickly rejected the first offer, with the English sources claiming they demanded around £100m. The Gunners have come back with an improved bid, but it seems they are still not close to completing the transfer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham will most likely reject Arsenal’s £90m offer for Rice.

The Gunners are planning to pay a £75m fixed fee and £15m in add-ons. But the Hammers believe the add-ons are “difficult to achieve”.

Another challenge for Arsenal is that West Ham are willing to hear offers from other clubs. Sky Sports claim Manchester City could enter the race to sign Rice this week, but the Gunners are still confident that they can close a deal for the England international.

The Citizens are reportedly keen to add another top-level midfielder to their ranks this summer. But the presence of Rodri in City’s midfield line might convince Rice to prioritize a move to the Emirates.
