The Gunners are hoping to finalize their first summer signing in the coming weeks.

Arsenal are ‘confident’ in pursuing a deal for Leicester City‘s Youri Tielemans.

The midfielder has a year left on his current Leicester deal, but with the Foxes struggling to renew his contract. Having rejected several contract extension offers from Leicester, Tielemans is now getting closer to joining his new club.

According to 90min, Arsenal have already spoken to Tielemans’ representatives over a move. The Gunners are reportedly confident they can finalize the move before the end of June.

After failing to renew Tielemans’ deal, Leicester are keen to avoid a free departure by selling the midfielder.

However, they still have not reached an agreement with Arsenal over the transfer fee. The Foxes reportedly demand a £30m transfer fee while Arsenal’s initial offer is less than £25m.

Asked about his future on Tuesday, Tielemans admitted he might leave the King Power Stadium this summer.

“That is not out of the question,” he said while being on international duty.

“I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.

“But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”
